Beside its Epidemic effects, each Virulent Strain Epidemic card has an effect which applies only to the Virulent Strain disease.
Some cards have a continuing effect; these affect play after the Epidemic is discarded.
Others have an immediate effect, taking place before the Intensify step of the Epidemic.
